Pokémon Go Lucky Eggs: Chances of Finding One, Advantages, Leveling Up And More

Lucky Eggs are one of the rarest, yet highly useful, Pokémon Go items as they help players level up fast. Players can buy them with PokéCoins in the Pokémon Go shop — $5 for a stack of 8 and $11 for a stack of 25 or they can try their luck and look for them in Pokémon Nests.

The special eggs last for 30 minutes and double your XP. Players with Lucky Eggs can level up with less experience than regular players and are at an advantage when fighting higher level trainers who have higher CP Pokémon. The short duration in which the Lucky Eggs are active makes it important for players to utilize them as best as they can. In that duration, if you are out trying to catch Pokémon and walking between Pokéstops, you won’t be making any XP for a lot of the time.

A better way to utilize your eggs is Pidgey Spamming, a technique built around Caterpie, Pidgey and Weedle — three common Pokémon which require only 12 candies to power up.

In order to Pidgey Spam, you will need to download PidgeyCalc, an online tool, which will let you know what steps you need to take in the game to make the best use of your Lucky Eggs. Players can download the Android or iOS version, or go to the PidgeyCalc website.

Once you have access to PidgeyCalc, you will need to enter the number of Caterpies, Pidgies and Weedles that you can evolve and the number of candies you have, and then hit “calculate.” PidgeyCalc will let you know how much time it will take to evolve these Pokémon and which Pokémon you should try to evolve during the 30 minute Lucky Egg duration. In case you don’t have enough Caterpies, Pidgies and Weedles, you can add the name of the species in the field at the top of the tool and press the green + button and a new line will be added in tool for the specific species.

Using this technique, you will be able to maximize your XP gain during the duration of Lucky Eggs.
