Windows Photo Viewer has been replaced with the new Photos app in Windows 10, and it is the default picture viewer in Windows 10. The Photos app is quite impressive and now offers a long list of features.
If you have been using Windows 10 and Photos app since the release of Windows 10, you probably remember that the Photos app was just a basic picture viewer with very few editing options back then. Over the last three years, Photos app has received many new features, and it’s now easily the best picture viewer out there for Windows 10.
In addition to viewing photos and editing them, it can also help you edit and create videos. For instance, you can trim video files with the help of Photos app.
If you need to crop an image file, you can do that as well. You don’t need the Paint or a third-party program for cropping images.
Crop pictures in Windows 10 Photos app
In this guide, we will see how to use the Photos app to crop images in Windows 10.
Step 1: Open the picture file with the Photos app. If Photos is the default picture viewer, you just need to double-click on an image to open it with Photos. If it’s not the default picture viewer, right-click on the image file, click Open with, and then click Photos option.
Step 2: Click anywhere on the Photos app to reveal the hidden toolbar.
Step 3: Click Edit & Create to see the drop-down menu. Now click the Edit option.
Step 4: You will now see a new panel on the right-side with Crop and rotate button. Click on the Crop and rotate button.
Step 5: Four circles will appear at the four corners of the image. You can either move a circle or move the line that appears at the edge the image to crop it.
After cropping the picture, click Done button to save it.
Click Save a copy image if you would like to save it as a different file instead of making changes to the original picture file. Click Save button to apply the changes to the original picture.
