Maybe you are unable to change Microsoft Edge’s homepage, maybe Edge browser is very slow, or maybe Edge is not opening at all. Whatever the reason, in this guide, we will see how to reset the Microsoft Edge browser in Windows 10 to fix all common issues.

Up until a few days ago, there was no option to reset the Edge browser in Windows 10. While we could partially reset the Edge browser by deleting some of its files, the method was cumbersome, especially for novice users.

With the Fall Creators Update for Windows 10, Microsoft has introduced options to reset and repair Microsoft Edge with ease. The new options come in handy if Edge or its features are not working well.

In short, reset the Edge browser if it is not working as it’s supposed to.

We have previously discussed repairing Microsoft Edge. In this guide, we will see how to reset the Microsoft Edge browser in Windows 10 with a few clicks.

Remember that resetting Microsoft Edge browser will delete your browser history, cookies, and settings. Edge favorites (bookmarks) will not be removed. So, we advise you try out the repair option first (won’t delete data) and then go for reset option only if the issue persists even after repairing it. Resetting Microsoft Edge in Windows 10

Step 1: Close Microsoft Edge browser, if it’s running.

Step 2: Open Settings app. Navigate to Apps > Apps & features.

Step 3: Look for Microsoft Edge entry. If you cannot see the Microsoft Edge entry in the apps list, it’s likely because you are not running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

Step 4: Click on Microsoft Edge entry to select it. You should see Advanced options link. Click on the Advanced options link to open Storage usage and app reset page for Edge.

Step 5: Here, click the Reset button and then click the Reset button again when you see the confirmation flyout to reset Microsoft Edge.

As said, you will lose browser settings, browsing history, and cookies. In a few seconds, a check sign will appear next to the Reset button indicating that the reset is complete. Should you see any error, make sure that Edge is not running and then try again.

Once the reset job is done, you may launch the Edge browser.
