New games release on Xbox One every week, but it can be quite difficult keeping track them all. This is especially true during the summer when so many blockbuster titles are taking up people’s attention with their expansive marketing campaigns. Some of the games we’ve reviewed this week you may not have even heard of. This time around, we’re taking a look at Amnesia Collection, The Council: Episode 4, and Hollow Knight.
Amnesia Collection
Amnesia Collection is a complication of three horror games. Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Amnesia: Justine, and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. Each of them are more terrifying and refined than the last, and take place from the first-person perspective. As the name suggests, you have amnesia and can’t remember where you are or what you’re doing. The goal is to discover your purpose and carry it out. Mostly this revolves around escaping a castle and avoiding being driven mad by the darkness. The main mechanic appears to be collecting tinderboxes and staying in the light in order to preserve your mind.
Amnesia Collection looks crisp on Xbox One. It runs smoothy and we encountered no issues. It even looks sharper than the PlayStation 4 version we played a while back so there might be some Xbox One X enhancements involved. There’s not much to fault here. These extremely popular games are finally available on Xbox One and that’s a good thing.

The Council: Episode 4
The Council: Episode 4 continues the game’s tradition of great visuals and compelling storytelling. The mystery deepens before it comes to a dramatic conclusion. While Telltale Games might be no more, these developers are keeping the interactive adventure alive. The studio failed to innovate and that led to low sales for many of their games. If you examine The Council, it’s the next step in the interactive adventure genre.
If you’re looking for a mature game which explores a number of topics and secret societies, then The Council is for you. This is what the future of the interactive adventure looks like.

Xbox One
Hollow Knight
Hollow Knight is quite possibly one of the best platformers ever made. Not only does it have an eerie and intriguing setting, but it also features tight jumping mechanics and combat. It seems like there’s no input lag at all even when you’re using a wireless controller. Usually even a platformer like Ori and the Blind Forest had moments where it didn’t feel this responsive.
Not only is the technical foundation solid, but so is the story, setting, and gameplay. It’s rare that a game like Hollow Knight comes along which changes your perception of how a modern platformer should feel. We have nothing but praise for this experience but it’s just that good and unique. Every Xbox One owner should buy this game. It’s a must-have for sure!

Out of all of these games, we would recommend Hollow Knight the most. It’s a lot of fun and give you that nostalgic feeling of playing old-school adventure games. All of the titles this week provide their own unique experiences, so give them all a shot if you’re interested. It just depends on what you like, but we all have our favorites.
