RTX 3060 Ti May Be Coming After RTX 3070 Launch, Spoiling AMD’s RX 6000 Launch Party

NVIDIA’s latest Ampere architecture that is behind the new RTX 3000 series GPUs may spawn a fourth model as soon as October, with a potential RTX 3060 Ti.

After prior leaks that we have come across as well, sources close to multiple major tech news outlets have leaked newer info, and there is an expectation for the RTX 3060 Ti to be announced by the time the 3070 is released, which is slated to be on 15th October. We also have comparative specifications to see how it would stack up against the other announced RTX 3000 GPU’s as well.

The RTX 3060 Ti will reportedly use the GA104-200 GPU, a revision of the GA104-300 in the 3070, a similar die size of 392 sq. mm. The card will include 4,864 CUDA cores, down from 5,888 in the RTX 3070, 152 Tensor Cores, and 38 RT cores, all slight reductions from the 3070. However, the 3060 Ti may feature the same memory configuration: 8GB of GDDR6 memory, with the same memory bus and clock as the RTX 3070. Overall, it is a cut-down 3070, as would be understandable based on the nomenclature of the card of course.

Another thing that the nomenclature confirms is that there will be an even lower-priced RTX 3060 as well, eventually. It may not be close to launch, but it does exist, and that may be an even better value for markets such as India where pricing is problematic with taxes and other levies.

The card hasn’t been given an MSRP amidst all speculation, but looking at the 3070’s $499 price tag, to enable proper product segmentation, it could be a $400 card, which would translate to around 28,000 INR but with taxes and import rates, the figure may be well over 35,000 INR for the Indian market. We will have to wait till October to find out.

It is very clear what this potential announcement is focused on- AMD’s Radeon RX 6000. NVIDIA has already enjoyed the advantage over AMD’s upcoming RX 6000 GPU’s by announcing and releasing 3 cards before AMD already, and they wish to extend that to the midrange as well, as AMD has proven its competitiveness in that space with the older RX 5000 series already as well. It is a clear attempt or will be, to steal AMD’s “thunder” and affect their launch. It is a tough competition, and that will lead to consumer-friendly aggressive pricing for the buyer.
