How to enable the new Material Design UI on Google Chrome browser

 

Recently there have been rumors about Google testing a whole new UI for its Google Chrome browser for Windows computers. Where Google has been seen as not being so much supportive of Microsoft’s Mobile Operating System, Windows Phone, and Windows 10 Mobile. On the other hand, they are regularly supporting their software on Windows PCs. Which this new user interface for Google Chrome has been spotted on the Canary Builds of the browser many times, it has made its way on to the stable release. But it is slightly tricky. Google recently released Google Chrome version 68 to its stable release channel. And inside it lies, the new User Interface inspired by Material Design.

How to enable the new Material Design UI on Google Chrome browser

Now, let us just check how to enable this new UI.

First of all, you need to make sure that you have Google Chrome Version 68 or newer on your computer.

To check it, Open Google Chrome.

Then click on the Menu button denoted by 3 vertical dots on the right top corner.

Now click on Settings > About.

There, it will show the version number of Google Chrome installed and if you need an update, the update will be downloaded and installed from there automatically too.

Enable Material Design UI in Google Chrome

Material Design is inspired by the physical world and its textures, including how they reflect light and cast shadows. Material surfaces reimagine the mediums of paper and ink

First of all, enter the following path in the Address Bar of the Google Chrome browser,

chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md

Now, look out for menu labeled as UI Layout for the browser’s top chrome.

How to enable the new Material Design UI on Google Chrome browser

Change it from Default to Refresh.

It will prompt you to relaunch your browser, do it.

Now you will have the all new User Interface for the Google Chrome browser inspired by Material Design.
