Rumour: Select Xbox and Windows Insiders invited to try out xCloud

The xCloud Validation program has apparently been opened to certain Xbox and Windows Insiders, who have been specially selected to try out Project xCloud.

The news comes courtesy of IdleSloth1984 on Twitter, who tweeted that ‘select top leaderboard’ Xbox and Windows Insiders are officially testing xCloud on Android devices.

xCloud is the upcoming videogame streaming service from Microsoft that allows players to stream Xbox games to a variety of devices, including but not limited to smartphones, tablets, and certain televisions.

Idle Sloth also tweeted screenshots that show that Project xCloud has its own dedicated Android app.

This marks the first time that xCloud has been available for private testing by people who aren’t Microsoft employees or E3 goers, as E3 2019 had xCloud demos available for public viewing.

Other screenshots show that Insiders have access to the campaign of Crackdown 3, Disneyland Adventures, Forza Horizon 4, Forza Motorsport 7, and Gears of War 4.

The other day, Microsoft applied for a mysterious “Digital Direct” trademark which is heavily implied to have something to do with Project xCloud.

Onscope IPOwner describes the Digital Direct trademark as the following:

(1) Entertainment services, namely providing game services for games played over computer networks and global communications networks; providing computer games and video games for on-line play over computer networks and global communications networks; providing entertainment information on the video game and computer game industries

Project xCloud should be out publicly this October. The service apparently already supports over 2,000 games, with potentially more to come.
