Ryzen 5900X and 5800X: in October or November?

While we all know that AMD will hold an event dedicated to Zen 3 processors at the beginning of October, though some information leads us to believe that this new generation of processors will not be available right away.

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, Ryzen 7 5800X

First of all, a discussion with a big European integrator allowed us to understand that according to him, the new Ryzen 5000 would not be released within the second week of November… almost a month after the announcement therefore. Another source taken up by @1usmus evokes it an arrival of the CPUs on October 20th

Only 2 CPUs for the end of the year: Ryzen 5800X and Ryzen 5900X?

Today, the other information would concern the availability management which is starting to become problematic for AMD. Thus, thresholds the Ryzen 5800X and 5900X would be available on this end of year 2020 where the rest of the range Ryzen 3xxx could be then “animated” (which means that promotions would be launched). Finally, the Ryzen XT would simply be out of the catalog for the fourth quarter.

The Ryzen 3xxx still here for Christmas

It should be noted that availability problems have been affecting AMD for a while now. While some people talk about the release of the new consoles, this is not a tenable explanation in our opinion since the quantities related to these consoles have been programmed for many months by AMD at TSMC. However, it is possible that AMD’s forecasts on these conventional processors have been exceeded (peak buying during the Covid crisis) and that AMD is obliged to manage the products it puts into production at TSMC.
