Microsoft is joining the modern world with muting support for Microsoft Edge. In the next big version of Windows, Microsoft wil now let you mute your tabs, a feature which is supported by Google Chrome and Firefox, It is an especially useful feature for taming web-pages which have auto-play video (seriously, stop doing this internet), or muting a web-page which is playing audio while you’re on another tab because you want to concentrate, you get the gist.
How to mute tabs in Microsoft Edge
- Open Microsoft Edge, surf the web, and stumble upon a web-page you want to mute.
- Right click on the tab which has a speaker icon displayed, indicating audio output.
- Select “Mute Tab”, this then mutes all sound from the tab until you choose to unmute it.
- Alternatively, just click on the speaker icon to disable sound immediately.
This feature will be available in Windows 10 from next year but is already available, at the time of writing, to Windows Insiders running Windows 10 RS4 build 17035 and above.
