Sony Xperia C5 Ultra – Is the selfie centric phone worth $425 (Rs.29,990) ?..

The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra was brought to India today for a market price of Rs. 29,990 which is roughly $425. This phone mainly targets the Selfie centric people as a result of their 13MP camera on the front. This phone is a direct competitor to the last year’s HTC EYE. Both being in the same budget, we review and find out just how good is the Xperia C5 Utra.

Design – 9/10

This compact body fits a 6 inch screen with Sony’s bravia engine in a 164.2mm long chassis. The phone is itself light at 187g and is acceptably thin at 8.2mm. The rear camera is flush to the surface which is now becoming a demanding quality about a phone. Sony has given the customers 3 colours to choose from; those being black, White, and Glossy Soft Mint.

Camera – 9/10

The 13MP camera on the front is surprisingly good with a wide angle lens. Front camera has a 88-degree field of view which makes taking group selfies an easier task, now no long everybody has to squeeze in. The front camera also rocks a front facing LED flash to make selfies in low light better. Other features of the camera include Full HD video recording, 4X digital zoom, image stabilization, red eye reduction, video stabilization , etc.

Hardware – 8/10

The C5 ultra is no slouch in the hardware department, sporting a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek (MT6752) processor with 1.7GHz and an ARM Mali760 GPU along with 2 GB of ram for seamless multitasking. Sony includes 16 GB of internal storage on this phone which can be expandable to 200gb via microsd card. In terms of connectivity, the phone has the typical configuration of a phone in the $400 budget including NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, WI-FI, 3G and 4G LTE connectivity. To keep this phone lasting a day of normal usage, the phone has a 2930 mAh battery. Topping up this phone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

Verdict – 8.5/10

The Xperia C5 Ultra does live up to its name becoming one of the best – if not the best – selfie phone on the world. Photo centric people will indulge themselves with the loaded camera on both sides. I recommend this phone to people who are in the $400 ( Rs. 25,200 ) to $480 (Rs.30,000) budget who want a phone to take stunning photographs as well as a long lasting battery to last a day. The phone runs all games currently on the play store with ease and also has the capacity to download a ton of apps.
