‘Ark: Survival Evolved’ Valentine’s Day PC Update Released – Patch Notes Reveal Breeding Boost

Ark: Survival Evolved has a brand new update on PC and it’s launched in the name of Valentine’s Day. The full patch notes reveal the lovely bonuses and release time of the seasonal celebration.

V254.93, ETA Feb. 12

  • Dinos have a 5 percent chance to drop a box of chocolates when they mate. Chocolates can be used for a full heal or to advance 50 percent of a taming Dino’s bar.
  • New unlockable facial and head hairstyles (via craftable items) for male and female
  • New unlockable “heart” emote
  • Servers can launch with “-vday” to get (extra) 2x Mateboost range, 3x mating speed/mating recovery, 3x baby/egg maturation speed and one third baby food consumption.

Non-Holiday Adjustments

  • Reduced lag on inventory menus
  • Hair now reacts to being underwater, physics and materials.

It’s assumed the Valentine’s Day perks will be in place until the next major PC update arrives around Feb. 20. When it comes to consoles like PS4 and Xbox One, the plan is to release the same Valentine’s Day perks along with the Tek Tier update on Feb. 14. However, if the testing for that patch takes longer than expected, the console port of those features may be delayed.

Ark: Survival Evolved ’s last major PC content update arrived at the end of January with Tek Tier support, four new Dinos and hairstyle features. It appears the latter addition is already being expanded upon by the Studio Wildcard team.

Ark: Survival Evolved is available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4, OS X and Linux. Be sure to check out our v254 guide to get the scoop on all the latest PC features.
