SteelSeries launches pair of mice with TrueMove3 optical sensor

PC gaming brand SteelSeries has a couple of new gaming mice for you to consider. The mice are the Sensei 310, and the Rival 310. SteelSeries is particularly pleased with these designs as they come packing a new sensor made in a collaborative effort with PixArt, the TrueMove3.

It is claimed that the exclusive TrueMove3 sensor is “the first true, eSports sensor,” and it offers 1-to-1 tracking from 100 to 3,500 CPI with the rapid accuracy demanded by eSports pros. Between 3,500 to 12,000 CPI the TrueMove3 uses a “new, advanced jitter reduction to deliver natural mouse movement without slowing down response time,” claims the peripherals maker.

SteelSeries has produced the interesting chart, above, which compares the new TrueMove3 sensor equipped Sensei 310 and Rival 310 against popular eSports rodents from Razer, Logitech, and Zowie. The firm says that the TrueMove3 reporting deviations are minimal due to its unique 1-to-1 tracking ability. Deviations observed in competitor product testing could be down to “latency, lag, or errors,” according to SteelSeries ‘Product Guy’ Jeff Mahlmeister (video explanation 24 minutes 30 sec onwards).

The SteelSeries Sensei 310 takes the tried and trusted Sensei ambidextrous design and packs in the new TrueMove3 sensor to take it to the next level. Users of the Sensei 3 will appreciate the 8-programmable buttons, “the industry’s first pure silicone side grips”, and a new and exclusive split-trigger button design with Omron mechanical switches for a fast and consistent click feel. Measuring 70mm wide, 125mm long, and 39mm tall, the Sensei 310 weighs 92g. It comes equipped with two RGB lighting zones and a 2m cable.

The SteelSeries Rival 310 shares most of the features of the Sensei 310 but is crafted into an ergonomic right-handed design. This eSports mouse design has six programmable buttons, two fewer than its ambidextrous brother.

Whichever SteelSeries mouse you choose they are compatible with SteelSeries Engine Apps like PrismSync and GameSense lighting. You can purchase either mouse directly from the SteelSeries website for £59.99.
