In Windows 10, the lock screen is the screen that you see right after the boot screen. In fact, on most PCs (PCs with decent to high-end config), it’s the first screen that you see after resuming from hibernation and sleep.
We know that the Windows 10 lock screen displays date, time, battery icon and network icon. Depending on how you have configured notifications, notifications may also show up on the lock screen.
Unless you have disabled the lock screen or configured automatic login on Windows 10, you see the lock screen and sign in screen every time you turn on your PC.
Because you see the lock screen and sign in screen very often, why not configure Windows 10 to automatically change the lock screen background to display a new picture every day?
In Windows 8, Windows 7 and earlier versions, there was no provision to automatically change the lock screen (lock screen was introduced with Windows 8) background. We had to use third-party programs to rotate Windows 7 login screen background and Windows 8 lock screen picture.
Luckily, in Windows 10, you don’t need a third-party program to automatically change the lock screen background picture. The Windows Spotlight feature in Windows 10 sets a beautiful picture as lock screen and login screen background, and changes the background every day.
The Windows Spotlight feature shows breathtaking photos on the lock screen. You can select what type of pictures to be shown on the lock screen. For instance, if you like birds and animals, you can configure the Windows Spotlight feature to show these type of pictures only. To do that, when you see the type of picture that you like to see more often on the lock screen, click “Like what you see?” option on the lock screen and then click I love it. If you don’t like a type of picture, click Not a fan.
Automatically change lock screen and sign in screen picture every day
Here is how to enable Windows Spotlight and make Windows 10 automatically change the lock screen picture every day.
Step 1: Right-click on an empty spot on the desktop and then click Personalize to open the Personalization section of Settings app.
Step 2: Click the Lock screen. In the Background section, select Windows Spotlight from the drop-down box. That’s it!
Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen
