Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine Delayed To 2021

Ubisoft had quite a few projects under their belt this year. We had another entry in both the Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed as well as the Far Cry franchises this year. That is, if you aren’t forgetting that the Prince of Persia : Sands of Time remake and Immortals : Fenyx Rising are also in the works. COVID-19 had affected the development of major software products (including video games – they are software too, duh!) in the IT industry, and the gradual shift to a work-from-home culture had slowed down progress (a lot). Players would have to be satisfied with Watch Dogs: Legion, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Immortals : Fenyx Rising this year, as Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six : Quarantine would be shifted further – having a release date in between Q2 2021 and Q1 2022.

The Far Cry 6 team had delivered a message on Twitter which clearly mentions that the pandemic was responsible for the delays in production, and they have decided to allow themselves more time to focus on delivering a better game (which is kind of surprising, considering the fact that Watch Dogs: Legion had tons of performance issues at launch). The message ends with an apology for the delay, though no release date had been teased.

The actual release date has been revealed by industry insider Daniel Ahmad, popularly known as ‘ZhugEX’. A statement has been released by Ubisoft to its shareholders which promise the release date of Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six: Quarantine to be somewhere between April 2021 and March 2022. The main focus for the studio continues to be working on patches for Watch Dogs: Legion and the launch of Immortals: Fenyx Rising and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in 2020.
