How Much Cloud Storage Space Will You Really Use?

If you’re shopping for cloud storage, one of the big decisions you’ll make is how much of it to pay for. Starting at free plans for a few gigabytes to expensive subscriptions that offer several terabytes of storage space; you have a lot of choice. Size Matters To see how much space you need, it’s probably best to first figure out what type of files you’ll be storing, how many of them—and also why. For example, if you’re an individual that just wants a safe place to back up their family photos, you’ll have very different demands from a professional photographer that uses the cloud as a place to store

Samsung and Qualcomm deal will see much wider Snapdragon use across future Galaxy devices

Qualcomm and Samsung have announced an extension and expansion of their partnership, which will see expanded use of Snapdragon hardware in Samsung Galaxy devices. Sitting at the core of this agreement is licensing of 3G, 4G, 5G and 6G patents, but it goes a lot further, suggesting that Samsung’s next-generation of flagship devices will be using Snapdragon hardware globally, rather than splitting the offering between Snapdragon and Exynos. That will likely be met enthusiastically by fans who have long criticised Samsung’s use of Exynos, preferring the optimisation that Snapdragon offers. While it hasn’t been explicitly confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S23 will be exclusively Snapdragon globally, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon

Garmin Vivosmart 5 leaks with much larger screen and three color options

Garmin is one of the most popular manufacturers for fitness trackers, and the Garmin Vivosmart 4 is one of the company’s only remaining options for a band-style tracker (as opposed to something resembling a smartwatch). The Vivosmart 4 dates back to 2018, so it’s definitely due for an update, and a new leak indicates that may be happening soon. WinFuture has shared images of the upcoming Vivosmart 5, which is expected to stay in the same lower price point as the current model — Garmin is currently selling the Vivosmart 4 for $129.99, but it has gone on sale for $100 or less in recent history. The new model looks

DirectStorage improves game loading times, but not as much as you may think

Microsoft announced the DirectStorage API for Windows PCs back in 2020. The technology that debuted on the company’s Xbox gaming system promises faster loading times of games by eliminating IO bottlenecks. First announced as a Windows 11 exclusive, Microsoft revealed in 2021 that DirectStorage would also come to the company’s Windows 10 operating system. Microsoft released a preview in the same year, but it took until March 2022 for an official release. DirectStorage benefits from fast storage solutions, especially from state of the art NVME storage solutions. Microsoft did not provide benchmarks up until now, and it was not clear if benchmarks would show gains as impressive as Microsoft claimed
