Google has begun to process Stadia refunds, with servers set to go offline on 18 January, 2023. The game streaming service was confirmed as closing back in September with Google saying that it would hand out refunds for both hardware and any games that people had bought. Well, those refunds have started to be processed which means yours is probably on its way, assuming you haven’t received it already. When Google made its announcement it said that it intended to have the majority of refunds processed by the time Stadia went offline for good, with an FAQ now saying that refunds began on 9 November. “Starting November 9, 2022, Stadia...

Google TV now lets parents create watchlists for their kids

Google TV added kids profiles to the platform in 2021, giving young viewers their own portal designed to showcase only age-appropriate content. Today, the company is building upon kids profiles with new features, including parent-managed watchlists, recommendations on the homescreen, and supervised usage of the normal YouTube app. All of these software capabilities begin rolling out today and will continue to reach Google TV customers over the next several weeks. This will make it easy for them to progress from one video...

Review: Roccat excels with their new lightweight wireless addition

Roccat dominates with this customizable beauty. Roccat is a blast from the past for me. When I first entered a local Counter-Strike: Source LAN tournament, merchandise emblazoned with their feline logo was offered up as prizes. We won Roccat wristbands for third place. Having their gear around my desk again makes me feel warm and fuzzy, knowing some companies from my younger days have that kind of staying power. In the modern day, the German company is under the famed Turtle Beach umbrella, making a resurgence into gaming peripherals with the Burst Pro Air as its latest offering. It’s an ambidextrous wireless gaming mouse touting flashy RGB lighting and super-lightweight...

With Intel’s newest platform and motherboard makers hopping on the DDR5 train (mostly, there will still be DDR4 motherboards, even with the higher-end Z690 chipset products), gamers, enthusiasts and overclockers are probably casting a beady eye towards the DDR5 memory market. HEXUS has previously reported on the new system RAM standard for consumer PCs (coming to an AMD platform in 2022, too), but now all the major PC RAM module vendors have taken the wraps off their first product salvo. Today I am looking at Corsair, G.Skill, and Kingston Fury DDR5 offerings today, as these firms have got in touch with me, outlining their newest DDR5 products and kits. They...

Image: Thibault Penin Samsung says that it can disable any of its Samsung TV sets remotely using TV Block, a feature built into all television products sold worldwide. Microsoft posts their vision of the future of Meetings using Microsoft Teams Rooms

Microsoft has posted a video of their vision of the future of meetings in the post-pandemic period, and it’s all about hybrid working. The video is based on Microsoft Teams Rooms and is their vision of the best practice in implementing the solution. That means large screens, eye-level cameras, spatial audio and tables arranged in a way which does not exclude virtual attendees. The most expensive version includes microphones hidden in the ceiling. “Hybrid work represents the biggest shift to how we work in our generation,” says Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. “And it will require a new operating model, spanning people, places, and processes.” “In fact, at Microsoft, meeting recordings...

People want liquid cooling in their phones for better gaming, but there’s no such thing

Hardcore smartphone gaming, just like PC and console gaming, is a high octane affair that requires powerful hardware that fires for a sustained period of time for the best experience. And it’s not more cores, more RAM or higher clock speed, but liquid cooling that young smartphone gamers want in their smartphones for better gaming, according to a survey Mysmartprice conducted online. 36.4% of the respondents said they demand liquid cooling in their smartphones to make games run better, while a good 31.4% responded demanded a dedicated gaming mode for the same. And while both are features borrowed from their traditional gaming counterparts, their usefulness (and existence) remains questionable....
