September 4, 2020 by jerry23

TCL at IFA 2020 announced a handful of new mobile devices and accessories, including two new Android tablets, a pair of truly wireless earbuds, and a smartwatch. The company also unveiled a new display technology that’s an alternative to color e-ink. Here’s everything you need to know.

TCL 10 TabMax

The TCL 10 TabMax is the highest end of the two tablets the company announced today. The tablet features a 10.36-inch display at Full HD+ resolution, 8.3mm narrow bezels, an 8,000mAh battery, an 8MP front-facing camera, a 13MP rear-facing camera, Android 10, 64GB of expandable storage, and comes in Wi-Fi and LTE models. The SoC seems to be MediaTek’s Helio P22T. According to TCL, the TabMax features “intelligent eye protection,” so you can use the device longer without straining your eyes. The device also alerts the user when they’re too close (within 25cm) of the screen, supports Google’s new Kids Mode, and acts as a Google Assistant smart display. You can use the company’s “ultra-low latency” Stylus pen to draw or write on the tablet.

The TCL 10 TabMax is set to launch in Europe Q4 for €299 and €249 for the LTE and Wi-Fi only models respectively. It will be available in a dark blue color.

TCL Move Audio S200

The Move Audio S200 are the company’s latest truly wireless earbuds. What makes them earbuds interesting is they will be offered for under €100 EUR, making them one of the more affordable options on the market.

Some of the Move Audio S200’s features include “ENC” noise reduction technology, four built-in microphones with beamforming technology, Bluetooth 5.0, an IP54 rating for water, sweat, and dust resistance, and wear detection to automatically play or pause music when you put them in or take them off.

TCL said its wireless earbuds offer 3.5 hours of battery life on a single use and will launch in Europe for €99 at the end of this month.

TCL Move Time FamilyWatch

TCL’s new MoveTime Family Watch smartwatch is designed to keep seniors connected and safe. The watch features hands-free two-way calling, automatic fall detection, heart rate monitoring, and medication reminders. TCL’s goal with the smartwatch is to make wearers feel independent, even as they age. It’s also designed to give family members peace of mind with health monitoring features. Some of the device’s other features include IP67 water and dust resistance, a 41 x 48.5mm AMOLED touch display optimized for larger icons, 4G connectivity, and sleep monitoring technology.

The MoveTime Family Watch comes in two colors, Dark Gray and Black, and is expected to launch in North America and Europe this fall for €229 EUR.

NXTPAPER

Finally, TCL also teased new its new display technology known as NXTPAPER. The company said the new technology is the result of two years of product research and design, providing users with a paper-like experience in full color. “When compared to traditional e-ink, TCL NXTPaper has 25 percent higher contrast for better viewing and when compared to a typical LCD panel, TCL NXTPaper is up to 36 percent thinner creating a device that can be much slimmer and lighter,” the company said in a press release.

NXTPaper technology was designed for large format devices, including tablets, and the company plans to bring the technology to a future device.
