Google Stadia

The Sony PlayStation 4 is the best selling gaming console of this generation because of Sony’s amazing first-party games as well as a very successful launch when compared to the Xbox One. In this generation of gaming consoles, we haven’t really seen any streaming capable consoles yet but, it seems like game streaming is actually going to become a viable option in the next console generation as Google Stadia is supposedly going to be more responsive than local machines by the next two years.

Google Stadia to Be More Responsive Then Local Machines

According to a recent interview with the VP of engineering for Google Stadia Madj Bakar Google Stadia is going to be more responsive than a local machine by the next two years! “Ultimately, we think in a year or two we’ll have games that are running faster and feel more responsive in the cloud than they do locally, regardless of how powerful the local machine is,” said Madj Bakar. Apparently Google is going to use “Negative latency” to decrease input lag. Google is going to use Artificial Intelligence to predict what the player will click next which will supposedly allow gamers to play the latest games at 4k without a lot of lag.

Next-Gen Consoles Coming Holiday 2020

Thanks to Sony themselves, we know a lot about the Sony PlayStation 5. Sony has confirmed that the PS 5 is going to be released in Holiday 2020 and although Microsoft hasn’t released any official info about the next-gen Xbox’s release date, it is rumored and predicted that the console will be released in holiday 2020 alongside the PS 5.

Next-Gen Consoles Wouldn’t Be Able to Compete With Stadia?

Google Stadia is going to be released in less than a month , and it definitely wouldn’t be able to match a local machine in terms of response rate right now but, when the next-generation of consoles is released, Google Stadia may feature response rates lower than a gaming console. If Google is to be believed, by the time the next-gen consoles come out Stadia will be using “Negative latency” to lower response times. This means that as long as your Wifi speed is fast enough, Stadia will perform better than a gaming console. As you can see below, with a 25Mbps WIFI speed you will easily be able to stream the latest games at 1080p 60 FPS. Right now, 25Mbps internet speed is very cheap and as prices continue to decrease, it will be even lower in two years!

Google Stadia Speed

Stadia is also free! Games do cost money but if you want you can buy games and play them on your chrome browser as long as your Wifi is fast enough. As long as you have a PC that has the latest version of Chrome, you will be able to stream any game you want. This is the thing that will give Stadia the lead over other consoles. Gamers who buy consoles in order to play casual games like FIFA 19 or Madden NFL 19 will flock to Stadia as they can stream games from their chrome browser. Of course, if Google is able to decrease input lag so that it can compete with a local machine, hardcore gamers will pick up Stadia as well. The best thing is that you can play Stadia games with a controller or most and keyboard and that combined with low response rates, the next-gen consoles will have a lot of competition.
