Huawei Mate 10 Pro Specs Include DxOMark Camera Rating Of 98

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro has made it to the top of the DxOMark mobile camera rating list, second only to the Pixel 2. The device has an overall quality score of 97, while the Pixel 2 is rated at 98.

Many have questioned and explored deeper, DxOMark’s rating system after the release of several competing smartphones, all with very similar high scores. Shortly after the iPhone 8 Plus launch, DxOMark claimed its camera was the best mobile lens it had ever examined. One week later, the Galaxy Note 8 received the same 94 score as the iPhone 8 Plus. The next day the Pixel 2 was announced with the highest ever assigned to a smartphone.

Tech enthusiast, Marques Brownlee recently explained that the DxOMark scores are a composite of several tests performed by the benchmark team and that the overall score tells consumers very little about the actual camera quality of a device.

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro has a photo quality score of 100 and a video quality score of 91, making it stellar for photographers, but slightly less so for purveyors of video. In comparison, the Pixel 2 is slightly behind the Mate 10 Pro with a photo quality score of 99 but was rated as having better video capturing ability.

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro will sell for €799 when it releases between late October and mid-November. Huawei has not yet announced whether the device will release in the U.S., but if it did it would likely be available in 2018, similar to the Mate 9.

The Mate 10 Pro features a dual camera setup with a 20-megapixel monochrome lens and 12-megapixel RGB lens with a f/1.6 aperture on both lenses and optical image stabilization on the RGB lens. It supports BSI CMOS, Dual-LED flash PDAF, CAF, Laser, Depth autofocus, 2x Hybrid Zoom and 4K video recording.

In addition it its high-rated camera, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro features the AI enabled Kirin 970 chip, a 6-inch display UHD FullView display with a virtual home button, 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage options and a 4,000mAh battery, Android 8.0 Oreo and Midnight Blue, Titanium Gray, Mocha Brown and Pink Gold color options.
