With “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” launching just last month, many CoD fans are worried that Activision might not be releasing any more DLCs for 2015’s “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.” Fortunately, developer Treyarch just confirmed that “Black Ops 3” will continue receiving new content in 2017.
Treyarch’s Jason Blundell confirmed in a developer livestream yesterday that “Black Ops 3” will have something new next year. The studio head didn’t give out any specifics, but he was quoted as saying that there’s “another healthy and fun year of updates” in 2017. “I am afraid I cannot say anything right now,” Blundell said. One thing that was confirmed, however, was that a new feature will be arriving to Zombies soon, and it is called Newton’s Cookbook.
“I cannot say anything specifically at this point and time, but I can say that as Treyarch, we are excited about this game… and as long as they continue playing our game, we’re going to continue to support it in the same way,” Treyarch’s co-studio head Dan Bunting said, as reported by CharlieIntel.
“Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” was released back in November 2015, and since then, has received four expansion packs, according to GameSpot. Additional content for “Black Ops 3” in 2017 is a huge surprise for a lot fans. New content usually stops rolling out when the latest installment to the “Call of Duty” franchise is released.
Activision reported that “Black Ops 3” was its overall best-selling game in 2015. As of August 2016, it also remained on top of Activision’s titles. “Infinite Warfare,” the latest installment in the franchise, has not been doing so well. Sales for Infinity Ward’s game have declined substantially when compared to the sales of “Black Ops 3.”
With Activision giving way for Treyarch to release new content for “Black Ops 3,” does this mean that Infinity Ward’s plans for “Infinite Warfare” will be affected? It’s possible both developers will simply have to schedule their updates to avoid any interference.
