A majority of the refreshed chips are getting the R suffix making it distinguishable from the previous lineup of Xeon processors. The R obviously stands for Refresh. Apart from that we have the U and T series as well. The U series is for single socket chips. The T series stands for the high temperature chips. Finally, there are two chips without any suffix.

The Xeon Gold 6250 and Gold 6256 come with 8 and 12 cores respectively. These chips are rated to turbo upto 4.5 Ghz. That makes them the fastest Xeon chips, by surpassing the current fastest ones by 100 Mhz. This is targeted towards users whose work involve more single threaded work. The chips are set to be available from today.
