  • The Motorola Razr 2 has reportedly been delayed by a quarter.
  • The news means we might not see the foldable phone in 2020.

All signs are pointing to the Motorola Razr 2 being in the works, with a Lenovo executive previously saying that the new foldable could launch around September.

Now, Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO Ross Young has tweeted that the foldable phone has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More specifically, Young says the phone has been delayed by a quarter, and that it’s likely only launching in 2021.

The pandemic could theoretically have an impact on a number of factors, such as production, development, and quality assurance testing. Either way, it looks like the Motorola Razr 2 might be arriving later than the rumored Galaxy Z Flip 5G and Galaxy Fold 2, which are expected to arrive in August/September.

This wouldn’t be the first time Motorola delayed a foldable, as the first-generation Razr was delayed from the end of 2019 to February 2020. But the phone still saw a lukewarm critical reception. So if the Razr 2’s reveal is indeed postponed, we hope Motorola is using the extra time to refine the foldable.

In any event, the new phone is tipped to offer a Snapdragon 765 chipset, a 48MP main camera, and a 20MP selfie shooter. You can check out more rumored Motorola Razr 2 specs at the link.
