Windows 10 Tip: How To Show Seconds on Taskbar Clock

It sounds useless but you never know. Someone might find it’s useful. The clock at the bottom right corner of your screen doesn’t show the seconds by default, maybe to save some space? But to add seconds on that clock, you will need some help from a registry hack. Thanks to OnMsft for sharing.

Open Registry Editor by searching it from Start Menu and navigate to the following registry key.

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced

Now, right-click the empty area on the right and click New > DWORD (32-bit) Value to create a new DWORD registry value.

Name it exactly as “ShowSecondsInSystemClock” and set its value to 1. It should show something like this once done.

You will need to do a login-cycle to see the changes on the clock. Or, you can simply restart the Explorer process in Task Manager.

You can see the clock on your Taskbar is ticking in seconds by now.
